Mira Andrejeva Reaches Semifinals at Clay Court Tournament
Mira Andrejeva has advanced to the semifinals of the prestigious clay court tournament, marking her return after a 2024 absence. The Slovenian player achieved this success following a strong season, culminating in victories at two WTA 500 tournaments in Adelaide and Linz. Andrejeva’s performance has been particularly notable on clay courts this season, securing her the title of the most successful WTA player with 19 wins.
However, her progress was halted in the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid, where she faced defeat against Marta Kostjuk, a potential opponent in the upcoming Grand Slam tournament. Kostjuk, currently ranked 15th in the world, demonstrated a superior mental approach during the match. The series of wins on the sand has now been extended.
“I am very happy that I made it to the semifinals. This was one of my best performances this year,” Andrejeva stated following her victory. The tournament continues with Andrejeva poised to compete for a place in the final.
The WTA rankings will be closely watched as she progresses through the competition.
