Jan Tratnik is scheduled to participate in the upcoming three-week races for the second time, marking his fourth appearance at the Tour de France. His previous participation in the French race occurred two years ago, when he rode for Visma-Lease a Bike, serving as a support rider for Dancu Jonas Vingegaard. For this edition, the time red team will be fielding two designated leaders.
Redbull-Trek-Segafredo plans to utilize Remco Evenepoel, who has not competed since securing third place at the monument race, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, at the end of April. Evenepoel has been engaged in altitude training to optimize his condition for the Tour’s commencement in Barcelona. Furthermore, Florian Lipowitz, who competed on the same roads last week, recently won the Slovenian pentathlon.
His strong showing included securing the best performances in the final two stages held in Kranjska Gora and Novo mesto. The 25-year-old German rider achieved third place during his initial appearance in the Tour de France last year, finishing behind Tadej Pogačar and the race leader. The team structure suggests a dual focus, with Tratnik expected to play a role in supporting the designated captains throughout the demanding time trial and general classification efforts for the Red team.
