Red alert for the Adriatic: 27 degrees Celsius at night as well

A red alert has been issued for the entire Adriatic region, spanning from Savudrija to Dubrovnik, due to anticipated extreme heat conditions. Elevated temperatures are forecast to persist through Tuesday, with conditions expected to intensify toward the end of June. Tomorrow, temperatures along the entire Adriatic coast are projected to surpass 35 degrees Celsius, with local readings anticipated to reach 37 degrees.

A significant concern noted by meteorologists is the minimal drop in nighttime temperatures, which exacerbates the overall heat load in coastal zones. Due to weak Bora winds, certain areas within Dalmatia are not expected to see overnight lows fall below 27 degrees, contributing to an exceptionally high heat load across the coast. Specific forecasts for Saturday indicate the following ranges: Rovinj is predicted to experience a low of 26 degrees and a high of 36 degrees.

Zadar is forecast between 27 degrees and 37 degrees. Split is similarly predicted to range from 27 degrees to 37 degrees, while Dubrovnik is expected to see temperatures between 26 degrees and 36 degrees. Furthermore, the impact of the high temperatures is not limited to the coastline.

Beginning on Sunday, severe heat is anticipated to move inland across the Croatian interior. Residents and authorities are advised to monitor evolving temperature patterns and take necessary precautions against heat-related risks across the entire Adriatic basin.
