Expected: Riera lost his job in Frankfurt

Albert Riera announced the termination of his coaching agreement with the club. In a statement, Riera stated that as the head coach, he accepts full responsibility for the team’s sporting outcomes. He indicated that his focus during his tenure was solely on improving the squad and achieving success.

Riera emphasized that he felt obligated to protect both the club and the players, a commitment he intends to maintain moving forward. The coach asserted that this dedication was necessary to maintain complete concentration on on-field performance, confirming that personal interests were never a priority for him. He reiterated that his primary objective remains, and always will be, the development of players and the attainment of success.

Riera relocated to northern Germany from his native Celje, a city where he previously achieved notable successes in both Slovenian and European competitions. Despite his experience, Riera has reportedly struggled to establish a significant managerial profile within the Bundesliga.
