The Australian police will reopen the investigation into the disappearance of Cheryl Grimmer. The three-year-old girl disappeared from the Fairy Meadow beach in Wollongong, south of Sydney, in January 1970. Her brother Ricki Nash, who is cooperating with the investigation, says the family has lived with the consequences of the police’s mistakes for more than 50 years.
“If the police had done their job then, we would have known the truth years ago,” he said in a parliamentary inquiry in New South Wales, which is examining cases of unsolved murders and missing persons. In 2017, the Australian police arrested a suspect, accused of abduction and murder of the girls.
