Petra Grah Lazar denies that she was informed about Valentin Hajdinjak

Former NPU Director Grah Lazar Appointed to Interior Minister’s Cabinet

Matoz, the interior minister, has appointed Petra Grah Lazar as the head of her cabinet. Lazar previously served as the director of the National Protective Intelligence Unit (NPU) during the third government of Janez Janša. Matoz stated earlier this month that Lazar’s prior experience within the police, including her time at the NPU, would be a valuable asset to his work.

Recent reports from TV Slovenija have raised concerns regarding Lazar’s role during her tenure at the NPU. Specifically, it has been alleged that she communicated information to Valentin Hajdinjak, who at the time was the director of Darsa, concerning a planned criminal complaint against party colleague Matej Tonin. These allegations have centered around communication with Roko Snežič, during Lazar’s time at the NPU.

Evidence suggests that an SMS exchange failed to halt this communication. Petra Grah Lazar has addressed these claims, asserting that she provided information to Snežič as part of her duties while leading the NPU. The situation is currently under review, with ongoing scrutiny of Lazar’s actions and their implications.

Further investigation into the activities of the NPU and its former director remains a key focus.

  1. “It’s concerning to hear of the lack of transparency surrounding this appointment and the previous role of Ms. Lazar.”
