Miran Šinko, a co-owner of a family company based in Skakovci, Prekmurje, stated that an employee sustained serious injuries after falling from a roof. Šinko recounted the initial shock of the accident and the subsequent period of uncertainty regarding the employee’s recovery. He reported that, fortunately, the employee has recovered well despite the initial severity of the injuries.
The company, which specializes in roofing, facades, and production, has been operational for over thirty years and employs 28 individuals. Šinko highlighted the inherent dangers associated with the roofing trade, noting that the work exposes employees to various environmental conditions. He specified that tasks are performed in extreme temperatures, ranging from intense summer heat to cold winter conditions.
The accident occurred because the employee failed to utilize required safety equipment while working on the roof, specifically neglecting to wear a safety belt.
