Monika Klobčar – with drawing to a dream job

Monika Klobčar’s upbringing in Podgorje, near Kamnik, shaped her into the creative professional she is today. Growing up in a large family of five children, creativity was a constant element of her childhood, fueled by imagination and shared time with her siblings. As a young girl, Monika and her brothers made elaborate constructions from paper, crafting houses and figures.

They also produced imaginative home science fiction films, created puppets and dolls, and developed captivating stories together. Despite the fact that drawing wasn’t viewed as a serious pursuit within her family’s environment, Monika’s inner passion ultimately led her to a thriving career. Today, she operates as a freelance illustrator and designer, a graduate of visual communication from the Ljubljana ALUO.

Her work seamlessly blends illustration, design, animation, and visual storytelling. When asked about the moment she realized drawing could be a profession, Monika honestly responded, “I honestly didn’t have the feeling that drawing was a profession for a very long time, I didn’t even have the feeling that it was a profession at all.”
