Moderć ended his club season after a nasty cheek injury

Luka Modrić Suffers Lip Fracture Following Derby Collision

Luka Modrić, captain of AC Milan, sustained a significant injury during Saturday’s Serie A derby against Inter Milan. The incident occurred in the 75th minute when Modrić collided with Inter’s Manuel Locatelli while contesting for the ball. Both players were immediately attended to on the field.

Locatelli was forced to leave the match, while Modrić remained on the pitch initially. However, subsequent medical assessments revealed the injury was more severe than initially anticipated. Following the match, diagnostic tests conducted the following day confirmed a fracture of the lip for Modrić.

As a result, the midfielder will require surgical intervention, effectively ending his season with AC Milan. With four remaining league games, Milan will face Sassuolo on Sunday, followed by home matches against Atalanta (May 10th), Genoa (May 17th), and Cagliari (May 24th). The extent of Modrić’s injury is expected to be closely monitored as he recovers.
