Mark’s sad story: I was always excluded in elementary school

Mark Baržić offered a poignant surprise to La Toyo Lopez during his speech. He shared a deeply personal revelation, detailing the relentless ridicule he faced as a child. “They always made fun of me that I was gay, that I was fat… I was always ostracized in elementary school,” Mark recounted, describing the painful experience.

The most challenging period in Mark’s life occurred during his ninth grade year, following his parents’ divorce. This event profoundly impacted him, leading to a time of intense self-judgment. “I didn’t know what to do, and I thought that this would be a solution,” he explained.

However, Mark expressed immense gratitude that he ultimately resisted this impulse. “Now that I see this young Mark, when he was 15 years old, I’m so proud of him that he escaped from these things, that he started to believe in himself, that he didn’t give up in life.” He emphasized that if he had succumbed to that temptation, the outcome would have been uncertain. Mark continued, “But I’m so happy that I’m still here and that I can finish with it.” He acknowledged his past struggles and expressed his current pride in his resilience.
