Logar Dismisses Golob’s “Self-Exclusion” Amidst Coalition Negotiations

Ljubljana – President of the Democrats (Predsednik Demokratov) Anže Logar addressed the media today alongside his parliamentary colleagues, asserting that Prime Minister Robert Golob’s statement regarding a desire for collaboration within the opposition constitutes a “self-exclusion” from the equation. Logar emphasized the Democrats’ continued openness to dialogue. The Democrats maintain that Golob’s recent shifts in his stated positions – initially expressing enthusiasm for cooperation and later indicating a search for “discrepancies where none exist” – represent an attempt to destabilize the negotiation process.

Last Friday, Logar announced the party’s definitive withdrawal from discussions with Golob. Following consultations with President Nataša Pirc Musar on Monday, Franc Križan, leader of the parliamentary group, stated that conversations continued with all parties deemed serious potential partners. Logar refuted information suggesting a significant shift in support towards Golob.

He clarified that the Democrats remain focused on establishing stable governing positions and are actively seeking the necessary parliamentary support for the election of a mandate. The situation highlights ongoing complexities within Slovenia’s political landscape as parties navigate the formation of a new government.
