Ljubljana and Koper Maintain Current Prices Ahead of Elections
Municipalities of Ljubljana and Koper are currently maintaining existing public service prices, with no planned increases before the upcoming elections. Officials have stated that significant price adjustments for public services are not anticipated in either location. The last price increases were implemented in the spring of last year.
In Ljubljana, Mayor Zoran Janković confirmed that prices will remain unchanged until at least the new year. The previous price adjustments, introduced in February or March of last year, affected drinking water, wastewater disposal, and garbage removal services, resulting in an approximately 15 percent increase. Prior to this, public transport fares rose, with a single ticket increasing to 1.50 euros.
Furthermore, Ljubljana has committed to maintaining current rates for kindergartens through the end of the year. This follows a commitment outlined in the coalition agreement regarding the gradual introduction of free kindergarten services. Mayor Janković clarified that should the coalition take over management, they intend to cover all associated costs, including those related to children’s enrollment.
The current situation reflects a deliberate approach to financial stability within both Ljubljana and Koper, prioritizing stability before the upcoming electoral period.
