Lena Repinc achieved a respectable result in the sprint competition, finishing 17th. However, the initial stages of the race presented challenges, failing to foreshadow a particularly successful outcome for the Bohinjian competitor. She incurred a penalty round immediately after the first shooting, causing her to drop to 22nd place.
The subsequent portion of the race saw the 22-year-old Slovenian steadily improve her accuracy. Despite only managing one successful shot in the following stages, she gradually gained ground on her rivals. Even in the final round, which featured significant alterations to the course, she remained determined and secured an additional place.
The primary competitive focus centered on the battle between the Swedish sisters, Elvira and Hanno Öberg, and the three-time Olympic champion, Frenchwoman Julio Simon. Initially, the Italian competitor, Lisa Vittozi, remained in contention for a podium place after the first shooting stop. Unfortunately, she compounded her errors with two further misses, leading to a decline in her position.
