Janša: Coalition Agreement agreed 95% of the time

Janša Reiterates Commitment to Binding Coalition Agreement

Prime Minister Janez Janša addressed the National Assembly today, reaffirming the government’s stance on forming a new coalition. Janša stated that governments will not be formed at any cost and that the recently drafted coalition agreement will remain binding for all participating parties. Speaking at an extraordinary session, Janša acknowledged the presence of “some larger, more difficult things” currently under consideration.

He emphasized the importance of a finalized agreement, anticipating its signing “when it is agreed.” Following the agreement, the next step will be the appointment of government personnel. Janša stressed that the process is governed by specific legal timelines. He reminded attendees that the 14-day deadline for finalizing the agreement expires next Tuesday.

He clarified that no further progress is possible until this deadline is met. When questioned about the anticipated formation of a new government in Slovenia, Janša responded that “there are quite clear legal conditions for it.” The Prime Minister’s comments underscore the government’s determination to adhere to established procedures and secure a stable coalition agreement. The focus remains on achieving a finalized coalition agreement and subsequently establishing a functioning government.
