Iranian President: The American blockade is doomed to fail

Iran Rejects Blockade Threat, Citing International Law

Iran strongly rejected today’s assertion of any attempt to impose a maritime blockade or restriction, stating such actions are “doomed to failure” according to Iranian officials. Masud Pezeškian, speaking on the occasion of Persian Gulf Day, asserted that any such measures “not only will not strengthen regional security, but are actually a source of tension and disruption to lasting stability in the Persian Gulf.”

Pezeškian emphasized the strategic importance of the Hormuz Strait to Iran, highlighting its significance as a symbol of national sovereignty. He underscored the waterway’s key role in Iran’s national interests.

Following the announcement, Iranian President Raisi addressed the matter via social network X, criticizing what he described as an “American maritime blockade” of Iranian ports. Raisi stated this represents “the expansion of Washington’s military operations” despite the existing ceasefire. The President further argued that the situation is a “violation of the Iranian sovereignty and the imposition of a foreign policy,” adding that the world is observing Iran’s “tolerance and readiness for reconciliation.” The statement reflects continued concern regarding perceived foreign interference in Iranian waters.
