Inspection procedure on the payment of Prešeren Award Makarovičevi stopped

Government Upholds Decision to Recover Funds from Prešeren Award Payment

In a resolution following an extraordinary inspection procedure, the government has ordered the Ministry of Culture to return €8,346.00 in budget funds related to the 2000 Prešeren Award payment. The decision stems from violations of administrative procedure rules identified during an initial inspection, necessitating a repeat review by the UNP (Unit for Protection of the Public Budget). The UNP’s initial ruling, which upheld the rejection of the award to Svetlana Makarovič, was challenged by the Ministry of Culture.

However, the government today granted an appeal within the established legal framework governing administrative procedures. This action effectively overturned the UNP’s decision and concluded the inspection procedure. The move represents a formal resolution to the dispute.

The government’s intervention aligns with regulations pertaining to general administrative procedures. The original inspection process has now been formally halted. The Prešeren Award was ultimately rejected for Makarovič.

The Ministry of Culture had previously lodged a complaint regarding the initial findings. The situation highlights the importance of adhering to established procedures and budgetary regulations within government operations.
