In the future, Evita will be on the Broadway stage once again

“Evita” Revival Set for Broadway with Jamie Lloyd at Helm

A new production of the iconic musical “Evita” is set to premiere on Broadway, with Jamie Lloyd directing the revised version. Lloyd, a Tony Award recipient for his direction of the acclaimed “Sunset Boulevard” revival, will lead the production featuring music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics and libretto by Don Black and Christopher Hampton, and based on the 1950 film. The cast will be led by Rachel Zegler as Eva Perón.

The Guardian highlighted the success of Lloyd Webber’s London production of “Evita,” describing it as “a realization of dreams,” and noted the opportunity for Lloyd to collaborate again with Webber on the Broadway project as “once-in-a-lifetime.”

“Evita” last graced Broadway in 2012, with Elena Roger and Ricky Martin taking on the lead roles. Following the overwhelmingly positive response from the London audience, the creative team opted for a revised staging for the Broadway debut. This new iteration promises to capture the enduring power and emotional resonance of the beloved musical.

The production’s success underscores the continued relevance of Webber’s work and the enduring appeal of the story.
