An estimated 10,000 women in Maribor currently face difficulties accessing a chosen gynecologist, according to recent reports. The issue escalated after one of the established gynecologist concessionaires withdrew their services from the area. Following this withdrawal, more than 5,000 patients were reportedly left without consistent care.
In response, the Maribor municipality launched a public call to secure a new concessionaire to fill the gap in local healthcare provision. However, these efforts to establish a replacement service have reportedly been unsuccessful. The timing of the municipality’s actions has drawn attention, as sources indicate that the local authorities were reportedly informed of the impending service gap as early as October of the previous year.
This delay in securing a replacement provider has left a substantial portion of the female population in Maribor without the continuity of care associated with a designated chosen practitioner. The ongoing lack of a stable provider remains a key concern for the community and local health services.
