The EPP political group is scheduled to vote today in Strasbourg on a proposal concerning the potential exclusion of Branko Grims. The decision will be made during the plenary session of the European Parliament by the group, which comprises 185 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). Reports indicate that the group’s consensus is expected to support the measure.
The call for the exclusion follows recent developments within the EPP. The presidency of the EPP, which represents the largest political bloc in the Parliament and includes four MEPs from the SDS party, had previously confirmed the exclusion. Adding to the pressure, Romana Tomc, who leads the SDS national delegation within the EPP, reportedly advised Grims to resign as an MEP prior to today’s vote, stating this was her intention.
In response to the ongoing controversy surrounding his status, Grims commented that the issue was not related to his workload, but rather that it was “annoying that I work a lot and achieve successes.”
The vote remains a significant procedural matter for the EPP, signaling internal divisions regarding Grims’ continued membership. The outcome of the vote will determine the immediate political standing of Branko Grims within the European Parliament structure.
