Starting Tuesday, the pricing structure for petroleum products in Croatia is set by the government in Zagreb. Blue diesel, used in agricultural applications, is scheduled to decrease by three cents, setting its new price at 1.18 euros per liter. Concurrently, the retail prices for other fuels are established: petrol will cost 1.71 euros per liter, standard diesel will be priced at 1.91 euros per liter, and blue diesel will be available for 1.24 euros per liter.
This recent setting of retail prices follows a period of regulatory adjustments by the Croatian government. Initially, the state had imposed the highest retail prices for petroleum products three years prior, a measure that remained in effect until July of last year, primarily in response to global market instability. Following an interim lifting of these controls, the government reinstated the price caps on March 9th.
This reintroduction was attributed to heightened volatility in international petroleum markets, specifically citing the impact of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the resulting sharp escalation in global fuel prices. These measures aim to stabilize consumer costs across essential energy products, including diesel, within Croatia, setting the official rates denominated in euros.
