How much can it cost to be pulled off the highway?

The long-standing criticism surrounding the execution of the road haulage contract on Dars has persisted for many years, fueled by accusations of bribery and suspected cartel negotiations. The contract with one particular road haulage contractor was ultimately cancelled due to a significant accumulation of penalties. Furthermore, the case was formally taken to court.

Last year’s efforts to secure new contractors for the five-year period incorporated several changes. These included revised conditions for participation in the tender process and stricter penalties for any violations. Dars also committed to more detailed reporting requirements regarding the services provided.

Dars is now reinforcing the tender conditions. Increased penalties and enhanced reporting protocols have been implemented. Mjaja has published these adjustments in relation to the tender for the concession concerning the removal of damaged or broken vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes – heavy trucks.

Additionally, a public call has been issued for the selection of contractors specializing in services for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, encompassing cars, vans, and smaller trucks.
