Slovenian Road Safety Agency Issues Traffic Advisory Ahead of Holiday Weekend
The Slovenian Road Safety Agency is advising motorists to exercise caution due to anticipated high traffic volumes across the country this weekend and early next week. Increased traffic is expected primarily due to the Italian holiday and the commencement of the holiday season in Belgium and the Netherlands. Furthermore, heightened freight traffic is anticipated.
Several sections of Slovenian roads are currently undergoing maintenance, contributing to the potential for congestion. Traffic density is forecast to be particularly heavy on Sunday, May 3rd, representing the busiest day of the holiday season, especially for routes traveling from Croatia towards Austria and Italy. To manage this increased traffic, a restriction on freight vehicles exceeding 7.5 tonnes will be in place across Slovenia from 8 p.m.
to 22 p.m. this weekend, and also on May 1st, May 2nd, and May 3rd. This measure aims to mitigate congestion and ensure smoother traffic flow.
The agency anticipates a return to elevated traffic levels following May 1st, a public holiday in numerous neighboring countries. Motorists are urged to plan their journeys carefully and allow for potential delays.
