Hiker Requires Rescue Following Unexpected Conditions on Prisanka Trail
Kranjska Gora, Slovenia – A hiker was successfully rescued after encountering challenging conditions on the Prisanka trail at Kopiščar on Tuesday afternoon. Mountain rescuers from Kranjska Gora reported the incident occurred around 3:00 pm, with the hiker surprised by the trail’s difficulty and the presence of significant snow. A combined rescue team, utilizing a drone for initial location, initiated the operation.
The drone’s assistance quickly pinpointed the hiker’s location, enabling rescuers to coordinate a swift response. A Slovenian Army helicopter was then deployed to transport the individual from the trail. The rescue effort involved a helicopter emergency medical assistance team, working in conjunction with the mountain rescuers.
Once located, the hiker was safely transported down the mountain via helicopter to Vršič. The Slovenian Mountain Rescue Association confirmed the operation’s success. “The unexpected snow conditions significantly impacted the trail’s difficulty,” a spokesperson for Uprava za zaščito in reševanje stated.
The incident highlights the importance of preparedness and awareness when undertaking hikes in mountainous terrain.
