He raced along the highway with his car: the police officers measured a speed of 258 km/h

Traffic police officers from the Novo mesto station conducted a routine control on a major highway and issued a citation for excessive speeding. The enforcement action targeted a 37-year-old driver operating an Audi RS7 registered in Great Britain. The incident occurred on the stretch of highway between Drnov and Brežice.

According to a representative from the Novo mesto police station, the vehicle was recorded traveling at a speed of 258 km/h. This reading represented an overage of 128 km/h above the posted maximum limit of 130 km/h for that section of the roadway. As a result of the violation, the driver was issued a fine totaling 1,200 euros and assessed nine penalty points.

The police emphasized that maintaining safe driving practices is crucial for public safety. Officials issued a general warning to motorists, stating that excessive speed remains one of the most frequent contributors to severe traffic accidents. They detailed that as vehicle speed increases, the necessary braking distance extends significantly.

Furthermore, exceeding posted speed limits elevates the inherent risk of an accident for all parties involved on the highway. The police continue to monitor the thoroughfare to ensure compliance with established speed regulations.
