He paid the vignette, but he didn’t pay for fuel. It cost him a lot more than 98 euros

The Operational-Communication Center of the Police Department in Koper was alerted this morning regarding suspicious activity at a service station in the Sežana area. Authorities reported that an unidentified male individual had purchased a vehicle vignette and filled up on gasoline. When an employee questioned the man about the gasoline purchase, he denied having filled any fuel.

Subsequently, the man paid for the vignette but did not pay for the gasoline, and then departed the location. Authorities noted that leaving the premises after filling gasoline without payment constitutes theft. The situation escalated when police officers stopped the individual at Razdrto.

During the stop, it was discovered that the suspect was transporting a 41-year-old Romanian citizen in the back of a van. In addition to the charges related to the initial incident, the driver was required to pay €98.01 for the gasoline that had been dispensed. Furthermore, the driver incurred multiple fines imposed by the police.

These fines were issued because the van was carrying five people, exceeding the legal limit for transporting three individuals, comprising two adults and three children. The initial interaction highlighted the theft attempt involving the gasoline and the vignette purchase. Upon inspection, the police addressed both the missing payment for the fuel and the subsequent violations related to the vehicle’s capacity.

The suspect, who was initially questioned about the fuel, was ultimately confronted with the financial and regulatory penalties stemming from both incidents.
