Han: Partnership is not just a signature of a document

SD Presidency Rejects Proposed Partnership, Sends Formal Response to Prime Minister Janša

Ljubljana – The Social Democratic Party (SD) presidency announced today that it will not participate in a proposed partnership, following a decision made at a meeting on Monday. A formal response to State Secretary Vink Gorenak, who presented the partnership on behalf of Prime Minister Janez Janša, was also dispatched. Matjaž Han, speaking at a press conference, reiterated the SD’s position.

He acknowledged the seriousness with which the invitation was initially received and confirmed that the party’s internal organs had been engaged in a thorough discussion regarding the proposal. Han stated that the decision to decline the partnership was not unexpected, stemming from extensive deliberation with SD members. “We took the invitation seriously,” Han explained.

“While we anticipated a potential rejection, it was crucial to first discuss this matter comprehensively within the party’s structures.” He emphasized that the decision followed a careful and considered process. The statement represents a follow-up to a press release issued on Monday, and reflects the core content of the reply sent to Prime Minister Janša. Han’s remarks underscored the SD’s commitment to a measured approach in evaluating such proposals.
