NK Pobrežje: Local Club Experiences Dramatic Growth Under New Leadership
For years, the largest Maribor city quarter’s football club, NK Pobrežje, faced a challenging outlook. However, a significant transformation occurred eight years ago with the appointment of Dejan Ramšak as president at the age of 24. Ramšak, who grew up within the club, identified areas for improvement and, through dedicated effort, spearheaded a remarkable revitalization.
Initially, the club operated with approximately 30 children, but under Ramšak’s leadership, membership has expanded dramatically, now encompassing 420 students within a dedicated school program. Ramšak views the presidency not as a title, but as a profound responsibility. “I grew up with this club and saw things that could be improved,” Ramšak stated.
“More than by chance I became the president of the club.”
Following his assumption of the role, Ramšak and his team began implementing changes, focusing on the club’s facilities and infrastructure, which were subsequently renovated. This strategic investment has been instrumental in the club’s resurgence and sustained growth. The club, which has struggled for years, is now experiencing a period of considerable development.
