Twelve foreign citizens were discovered in the vicinity of the border with Slovenia, according to reports from net.hr. A total of thirteen individuals were subsequently transported to the Dugi Dol Center for asylum seeker registration. Preliminary findings from Croatian police indicate that the group was initially driven to the location by an unidentified truck driver, who subsequently departed the scene.
The foreign citizens reported experiencing inhumane conditions during their journey. Following the discovery, a district state prosecutor initiated an investigation at the incident site. Croatian police are currently conducting further inquiries to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the individuals’ arrival and to determine the cause of death, if applicable.
The investigation also includes a probe into a suspected violation of criminal law concerning unlawful entry, movement, and residence within the Republic of Croatia, as well as within the European Union or among signatory nations to the Schengen Agreement. Authorities are working to identify the involved parties and fully investigate the situation. The discovery highlights ongoing concerns regarding irregular migration patterns in the region.
