Emperor’s Slovenia will be “fighting, selfless and without a lost ball”

Slovenian National Team Prepares for Upcoming Matches Under New Leadership

Since Boštjan Cesar was appointed head coach, the Slovenian national football team has participated in two preparatory matches. The team lost 1-0 to Hungary during a match at the end of March. Subsequently, they secured a 2-3 victory against Montenegro.

Coach Cesar, 43, commented on the initial results, stating, “The first meeting was very positive, but things don’t change overnight. I tested new players and I’m satisfied with what I saw so far.”

Looking ahead, the Slovenian squad will face Cyprus in their first home match of the preparations in June. Cesar expressed his expectations for the game, stating, “We are aiming for a fighting spirit, self-sacrifice, and a commitment to preventing lost balls.

We are Slovenia.” He hopes for a full stadium to support the team. Cesar will also play in a match against Croatia, a fixture often considered more competitive than a purely friendly encounter. While acknowledging the importance of fan engagement, Cesar emphasized that these matches are primarily focused on team preparation.

Further details regarding the Croatia match are still forthcoming.
