Traffic Accident on Primorska Highway Results in Fatalities

A traffic accident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on the Primorska highway between Vrhnika and Logatec, in the direction of Koper, resulting in the death of a 63-year-old driver. According to the Ljubljana Police Department, the incident occurred when the driver of a passenger vehicle stopped in the slow lane due to a mechanical malfunction.

The stopped vehicle was subsequently struck by a heavy goods vehicle. The RS Department for Protection and Rescue reports that the driver, along with a dog, was unresponsive at the scene. Firefighters from Stara Vrhnika and Dolnji Logatec responded to the scene.

They administered first aid to the driver until emergency medical assistance arrived, but the injuries sustained were fatal. The cause of death was determined at the scene. Firefighters took measures to secure the area, including disconnecting the battery of the involved vehicles and preventing the spread of wheat from the heavy goods vehicle, as well as mitigating the risk of a collapse.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the precise circumstances surrounding the accident.
