Democrats have confirmed receipt of SDS’s starting points for a coalition agreement

Janša Announces Draft Coalition Agreement to Supporting Parties

Ljubljana – Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša, leader of the SDS, has announced the distribution of a draft coalition agreement to parties backing amendments to the government law. The announcement follows the mid-session approval of an amendment proposed by the SDS, which reduces the number of ministries from 19 to 14. MPs from the NSi, SLS, and Fokus parties voted in favor of the amendment during the parliamentary session.

The Democrats and Truth parties also supported the proposal. It is anticipated that all parties involved will receive the draft agreement and an invitation from Janša to commence coalition negotiations. However, the Truth party remains a point of divergence.

Despite statements from party leader Zoran Stevanović indicating a firm stance against government participation and coalition discussions, the party has yet to formally receive the draft. STAT reports that Truth representatives have stated they have not been provided with the document. Stevanović has affirmed that Truth will not engage in government formation or coalition negotiations, and does not anticipate a separate agreement for cooperation.

The distribution of the draft represents a key step in the ongoing efforts to establish a new coalition government following recent parliamentary elections.
