DARS Reports Significant Increase in Night Work Activity
The Slovenian Road Infrastructure Company (DARS) has reported a substantial rise in nighttime work hours over the past five years. According to company data, the proportion of all work conducted during the night has increased dramatically. In 2021, night work accounted for 15.7% of DARS’s total work hours.
By 2024, this figure had climbed to 26.4%, and surpassed 28% in 2025. This upward trend continues, with the volume of night work exceeding the same period in 2023 through the first five months of 2026. DARS attributes this shift to increased maintenance and repair activities undertaken during periods of reduced traffic flow.
A significant portion of this nighttime work is being carried out by external contractors, as noted in a recent company press release. The release highlighted the ongoing need for infrastructure upkeep and improvements. The company continues to monitor and manage nighttime work schedules to optimize efficiency and minimize disruption to road users. Further data regarding the specific types of work performed during night hours is expected to be released later this year.
