During a press conference in Ljubljana, Cigler Kralj addressed the financial status of the ministry, indicating significant irregularities in fund management. He reported a substantial deficit of nine million euros concerning climate change adaptation funds, money intended to cover additional payments for insured premiums. Regarding the viticulture sector, Cigler Kralj noted a considerable discrepancy in allocated resources.
While the expected funds amounted to half a million euros, only 62,000 euros were found available. Furthermore, he stated that funds designated for viticulture were reportedly expended in January for a measure pertaining to 2025. According to preliminary findings, there are indications that this expenditure may have occurred in violation of established laws.
In response to these findings, the ministry has initiated a comprehensive forensic examination involving external collaborators. Cigler Kralj confirmed that the primary goal of this audit is to definitively determine whether the expenditures violated any laws or legal statutes. He emphasized that definitive actions will only be taken after the forensic examination of the funds is completed.
This process aims to establish a clear accounting of the missing euros and determine the appropriate course of action moving forward.
