Boy’s Death at Terme Ptuj Under Criminal Investigation
In January 2023, a boy died following an incident at Terme Ptuj, a thermal spa and water park in Ptuj, Slovenia. The event occurred during a birthday party organized by Terme Ptuj, with animators and instructors from the local swimming club also present. Following the incident, Terme Ptuj officials stated that adequate staff were on-site, including water rescuers.
Immediately after the boy’s submersion, rescuers administered first aid and contacted emergency services. Criminal investigators have filed a criminal complaint against two individuals who are reasonably suspected of causing death by negligence. Following a judicial investigation, the prosecutor filed an indictment against the individuals.
