Carcinogenic toy at home: When children’s play becomes a nightmare

It was only three days after Christmas when the toy, a gift from grandparents, which children played with on the couch, suddenly broke, and the 24UR Factum column reported a concerned mother of three small children who wants to remain anonymous. The children tore the toy apart during play. “The sand had already been blown out of it.

We had sand on the couch, under it, around it. The children tried to clean up everything as best they could on their way to the kitchen, to the bin,” the mother recalls. They cleaned the couch then, as best they could, but a year and a half later, she was shocked by the news on social networks about the recall of this toy due to the presence of carcinogenic asbestos.

The awareness that her three-year-old, six-year-old and eight-year-old children were inhaling the dust from the toy made her very worried. “Of course, I was very worried because I know that my children, aged 3, 6 and 8, were inhaling the dust from the toy,” she says.
