The outbreak of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is spreading rapidly, warns the World Health Organization (WHO), which has raised the level of health risk for the country to very high. According to WHO, the Ebola outbreak in the DRC has so far caused almost 750 infections and 177 deaths. The risk of Ebola spreading globally is still at a low level, however.
The inhabitants of neighboring countries of Congo are not yet frightened, says Slovenian missionary Zvonka Mikec, who has lived in Africa for more than half of her life. 35 years have passed since Mikec moved to Africa. She is currently in Luanda, the capital of Angola, which borders DR Congo to the north and north-east, where Ebola is raging.
“I have not seen panic in Angola yet, I think,” she says.
