Brglez: Vrtovec must find a system how we will build faster

Infrastructure Ministry to Initiate Highway Renovation Projects, Prioritizing Speed of Completion

The Ministry of Infrastructure announced plans to commence highway renovation work this Friday, beginning with projects such as the Postojna section. A key shift in the contractor selection process will now incorporate completion speed alongside traditional price considerations. According to mobility expert Andrej Brglez, this change reflects concerns regarding the current Minister’s approach.

Speaking on the 24UR Zvečer show, Brglez noted, “It is important to consider that Vrtovec was already a minister and this is clearly visible.” He highlighted inconsistencies in the Minister’s communication, frequently transitioning between expressing frustrations with highway conditions and observing the absence of construction activity. The decision to undertake night work, extending beyond Slovenia, is intended to mitigate traffic disruption. However, Brglez questioned how effectively this strategy will address underlying issues.

“The focus on speed of completion, as opposed to a more comprehensive plan, raises questions about the project’s overall effectiveness,” he stated. The Ministry’s emphasis on rapid turnaround times represents a significant alteration in the project’s evaluation criteria, a change that Brglez believes warrants careful scrutiny.
