Despite the injury, Bo Dončić could still be nominated for MVP?

As the NBA season nears its conclusion, attention shifts to the upcoming awards voting. The final games of the regular season will take place on Monday, April 13th, following which 125 journalists will cast their votes for a variety of end-of-season accolades. These awards include recognition for the league’s best player, best defensive player, and best defensive four-man unit.

Prior to 2023, criteria for postseason awards were limited. Only the sixth-man award had a specific requirement, necessitating that a player participate in at least 50% of the season’s games. However, recent changes implemented by the NBA and the National Basketball Association have broadened the eligibility requirements.

Now, all players must have appeared in at least 50% of their team’s games during the regular season to be considered for any of the season-ending awards. Luka Dončić played in 64 games during this season, highlighting the importance of consistent participation in the new standards.
