Tourist Bookings See Uptick Despite Previous Concerns
Despite previous slowdowns attributed to geopolitical instability and rising fuel costs, booking activity within the tourism sector is now demonstrating a significant increase, according to the Palma Tourist Agency. This trend is evident across Europe, including a notable rise in bookings for popular Mediterranean destinations. Specifically, Greece remains the leading choice for travelers, followed by Croatia.
Bookings are also concentrated in Spain, Djerba, Tunisia, and destinations within the Red Sea, such as Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, and Antalya, Turkey. In Slovenia, tourism trends mirror broader European patterns with little deviation from pre-recent concerns. Slovene travelers are prioritizing destinations including Spain, Croatia, Italy, and Paris.
A key concern for travelers remains the cost of airline tickets and overall flight prices. However, the Palma Tourist Agency confirmed that the first charter flights carrying Slovenian passengers to the Greek islands will proceed as scheduled, commencing in the second half of May. The agency emphasized that competition for available airline tickets continues.
