At least a week of hellish heat, even the nights will be tropical

Slovenia and Much of Europe Face Intensifying Heat Wave

Ljubljana, Slovenia – Temperatures in Ljubljana reached 28 degrees Celsius this afternoon with lingering heat on the asphalt. Meteorological models now predict a significant shift across Europe and Slovenia, forecasting a transition from current conditions to a prolonged period of intense heat. Forecaster Patrick Miklavčič anticipates this heat wave will persist for at least the middle of next week, with the hottest days expected on Monday and Tuesday.

Ljubljana is projected to reach 34 degrees Celsius during this period. While other regions will experience elevated temperatures, Primorska and Gorski Kotar are expected to see temperatures several degrees above the long-term average. These areas will approach absolute record highs.

Last June set a record, with a high of 38.4 degrees Celsius recorded in Dobličah near Črnomelj. That June was also exceptionally warm, and current projections indicate a continuation of this trend. Experts suggest that conditions will remain hot for at least the least part of the coming week.
