The Slovenian Transport Agency addressed concerns regarding the operation of trucks on roadways with reduced lane widths. According to the agency, strict adherence to all traffic signs and pavement markings is mandatory, particularly at construction sites and temporary traffic facilities. They emphasized that drivers must maintain their designated lane and adjust their driving style based on the lane’s width, the dimensions of the vehicle, the driver’s control capabilities, and prevailing traffic conditions.
Regarding congestion points, such as the incident reported in Postojna, the agency noted that trucks often encounter limited maneuvering space, leading some drivers to drive nearer to the dividing lines. However, the agency stressed that even in such conditions, vehicles must not unnecessarily encroach upon adjacent lanes or impede other road users. In response to this, the Slovenian Transport Agency issued specific advice for drivers of passenger vehicles.
They recommended that these vehicles avoid entering adjacent lanes when operating in areas where trucks are navigating restricted zones. This guidance aims to improve overall traffic flow and ensure the safety of all road users navigating areas with compromised road infrastructure.
