Arčon: No one influenced the ministers in the vote on the lawsuit against Israel

The inclusion of Slovenia in this lawsuit would simply extend the legal proceedings, according to Matej Arčon during today’s press conference for the Freedom Movement. He emphasized that the international court would ultimately resolve the case, irrespective of Slovenia’s participation. Arčon reiterated the government’s consistent position: that the policy enacted by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel constituted genocide.

He described the discussions surrounding this matter as private and deeply felt. Despite the sensitive and emotional nature of the debate, each minister arrived at their decision based on their individual conscience. The majority of the cabinet members expressed opposition to joining the lawsuit.

The Freedom Movement maintains a firm belief in the gravity of the situation. They continue to advocate for accountability regarding the actions of israel. Slovenia’s potential involvement was deemed unnecessary and would only delay the inevitable conclusion of the lawsuit.

The government’s core belief remains steadfast: that israel’s actions warrant serious legal scrutiny.
