Fernando Alonso’s Shanghai race commenced with a positive beginning, culminating in a commendable second-place result. The initial moments of the competition proved to be one of the few encouraging aspects of the AMR26 vehicle. Alonso successfully advanced from 19th position to 10th after the opening lap.
“During the start, I rediscovered the enjoyment of racing, and it appears this is a key strength of our car; we progressed to tenth place,” stated Alonso following the race. However, this initial enthusiasm quickly faded. Throughout the competition, the car experienced increasingly intense vibrations, causing alonso to struggle for control.
“Beginning around the 20th lap, I faced considerable vibrations. Coupled with our already substantial time deficit, we made the strategic decision to withdraw the car from the race,” he explained. The team’s efforts to maintain a competitive place ultimately proved unsuccessful.
