On June 1, 2009, an Airbus A330 disappeared from radar and crashed into the sea at an altitude of 11,580 meters. The accident is considered the deadliest in the history of French aviation. 12 crew members and 216 passengers died.
The cause of the crash was unclear for a long time. The wreckage was searched for for two years, and only in May 2011 were the last bodies and the black box pulled from a depth of 4,000 meters. Investigators believed that the accident was caused by pilot errors, which were confused by the faulty operation of speed sensors.
The Parisian court acquitted Airbus and Air France of the murder charges in April 2023, but now they are considered guilty. There will be no death of 228 people in the Atlantic.
