Slovenian Veterans Groups Confirm Participation Following Invitation Change
Ljubljana – Following revisions to the invitation, two prominent Slovenian veterans’ organizations have confirmed their participation in upcoming celebrations marking Slovenia’s National Independence Day. Gorazd Humar, president of the TIGR Primorska organization, stated that the new invitation removes a previous stipulation requiring banners or flags atop the organization’s “drug” to display the Republic of Slovenia’s coat of arms. The TIGR Primorska organization features a linden tree on top of their drug.
The Zveza združenj borcev za vrednote narodnoosvobodilnega boja (ZZB NOB Slovenia), which also has a star on top of its drug, is awaiting confirmation from the Slovenian government regarding their attendance. Initially, both organizations announced their refusal to participate due to the original invitation’s demands. However, following the issuance of the revised invitation, they have now confirmed their participation.
Additionally, the Veterans of the War for Slovenian Independence and the Police Veterans Association of the North have also stated they will attend the celebrations. Prime Minister Jeretič expressed regret over the initial complications, suggesting “it is possible that there was a mistake” in the original invitation’s wording, particularly concerning the requirement for flags and banners on top of the drug. The celebrations are scheduled for the day of national independence.
