Slovenia Under Orange Warning as Strong Cold Front Brings Severe Weather
A strong cold front is expected to move across Slovenia throughout the day, bringing widespread thunderstorms and significantly altered weather conditions. The Met Office has issued an orange warning for the entire country, indicating a high level of risk. Beginning in the morning, the strong front will trigger the development of thunderstorms across most of Slovenia.
The interior regions will experience particularly challenging conditions with sustained north winds exceeding 70 kilometers per hour in gusts. Localized heavy rainfall is also anticipated within the storm cells. The passage of this cold air mass will dramatically lower the snow-covering limit, dropping to approximately 1000 meters above sea level.
Temperatures will plummet, with readings ranging from 6 to 12 degrees Celsius during the morning and from 9 to 12 degrees Celsius during the afternoon. The Primorska region will be an exception, experiencing slightly warmer temperatures. The Met Office advises residents to prepare for strong winds and potential disruptions caused by the thunderstorms.
Residents should monitor official weather updates and heed any warnings issued by Arso.
