His friends quickly took him to the shore, where they gave him first aid, but he died due to massive blood loss despite the efforts of the rescuers. The police said that he was about 20 meters from his boat at the time of the attack. “His friends saw a horrific scene,” they added.
The Western Australia’s Minister for Home Affairs later praised their response, as they did everything to provide immediate help to the victim. His wife Shirene Mattaboni called the accident, describing him as a passionate sailor.
