A sailing boat sank in Hvar, six children saved

A maritime incident occurred off the coast near Hvar, Croatia, on Tuesday evening. At approximately 10:58 PM, the National Center for Search and Rescue at the Sea in Rijeka (MRCC Rijeka) received a report detailing a maritime accident. This report was subsequently relayed to the local Hvar port administration, prompting immediate response from police and rescue services.

Rescue operations were mobilized to the reported location. Authorities located the crew of a 12-member yacht. Among the occupants were six Spanish citizens, including six children.

Following thorough assessments, rescue personnel confirmed that all crew members were uninjured. The safe evacuation process commenced shortly thereafter. All individuals aboard the vessel were transferred to a rescue boat and transported to Hvar around 11:30 PM, successfully concluding the search and rescue mission.

While the occupants were accounted for and safe, the 12-member yacht, which had a crew complement of two, sustained damage during the incident. The swift action by the rescue teams ensured the safe recovery of everyone involved in the incident near Hvar.
