A four-year-old girl and a five-year-old girl were found by a passer-by near the town of Comporta on Tuesday. The sobbing children had food and drink in their backpacks, but no personal documents. The driver took them to a bakery where his family works, then called the police.
“We gave them some food and some toys to distract them,” Alexandre Quintas told the Portuguese Observador. The mother of the driver, Eugenia Quintas, said that the local doctor who speaks French allowed them to talk to the children. “They said they had come in the car and then got out in the forest,” she said.
