Fire on Arriva Bus in Koper Due to Technical Malfunction
Koper firefighters responded to a fire incident involving an Arriva bus on Markovec road at approximately 11:23. The incident occurred while the bus was traveling from Kvedrove road towards Prisojami. According to officials, the fire originated in the engine due to a technical malfunction.
The driver of the bus observed smoke emanating from the engine compartment and promptly stopped the vehicle at the first bus stop, safely evacuating all six passengers. Head of the firefighting intervention for the Koper Fire Brigade, Nikola Rivić, reported that no injuries were sustained. “We dispatched four vehicles and eight firefighters to the scene following the notification of a fire,” Rivić stated.
“Further information revealed the bus was equipped with a standard engine. The driver’s calm and immediate action in stopping at the first stop and opening the door were crucial to the successful outcome.”
Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly, and the situation was contained without further incident. The Koper fire department confirmed that the event highlighted the driver’s responsible response to a sudden mechanical issue on the bus.
